Renting a car in Spain – Tips and advices

- To be able to drive in Spain, you need to possess an EU driving license. In case of not being from a EU country, you must have an International Driver’s License (IDP).

- Driving is on the right like many EU countries.

- If you are not familiar with roundabouts, then begin to get used to. Many crossroads and four-way stops in Spain have been replaced by roundabouts. Be careful while driving through them, since some have four lanes and can be quite tricky to merge into. Do not hesitate to take your time to sort out the direction you wish to take.

- While leaving your car parked, just hide all your value belongings from sight.

- It may be difficult to find parking spaces in big cities such Madrid, Barcelona and also Valencia. Our recommendation is to park your car in a private parking just to avoid headaches and leave your car in a safe place.

- Automatic cars tend to be rather expensive than manual transmission ones. Make sure you book your automatic vehicle in advance to save hundreds of euros.
